Fountain hills

On the way back from Payson, we were up for viewing Fountain hills. It happened to be the first 15 min of an hour at that time, so the fountain was visible even from the highway. We turned into Shea Blvd. There were signs about an art & Crafts fair. When we were close to he location, a detour took us around a lake. In the center of the lake, I spooted a lotus looking concrete thing. It occured to me that this is the fountain we were looking for. I have been there more than 5 years ago. We walked around the endless booths. I saw the Funnel cakes, but when I saw he guy cooking behind pull out brown looking oil, all my appetite for it melted.
There was a hanging - twirler with a ball in it. It seemed like the ball was going down, quite an optical illusion.
Our hunger led us to Chen garden. The egg flower soup was good. I will never order hot and sour soup after the Yosemite experience. We had Yu shan spicy chicken and dun dun noodles. Both seemed to have the same sauce. It reminded me of Indian Chinese. It must be because of the Szechuan food prevelance in India.
We were in ine for a Lemon sugar crepe, but it didnt happen.
The first thing we saw of the fair was Emu oil. When we left the fair we walked by a 'greening the downtown' project which had emu bush. I conjectured if the bush was the source for the oil. I lose the unannounced bet. He is right.
A booth with wooden plaques to hang on the wall had '7 days without a pizza makes one weak'.

Egg Malai Masala

Egg Malai Masala  Its fun when things turn out as they should. I pureed the onions and then cooked them well. I added the milk for the egg Malai Masala and made chicken curry with other half of the onion base. I used kasoori methi in both. Many times I have felt the onions grainy, but this time I got it right. Patience.

Cuban Bread

So you should already know the sweet and breadrolls book if you have already read of the popovers. I have planned on making bread for a long time. A detour of popovers and finally I'm aqui. From the same book, I tried this Cuban bread and enjoyed making the slits in the bread. Like a surgeon. I still have to get the proofing right. The actual recipe reading takes place in real time. I was reading about the bread on the web and when I came across the lines about how it is different from a French bread in that it is left to rise after shaping the loaf, I was worried that my Cuban bread would lose its nationality. Turns out that I hadnt progressed that far into the recipe. The Best American travel writing 2008 Khubz al arabi
