Ethnic Indian Kitchen

A relative of mine is about to make laddu for 300 people. I am always impressed when people cook large amounts and are asked to do so by their friends. When I asked her for recipes, she referred me to  Komali Nunna  who is an author of two books - Entertaining From an Ethnic Indian Kitchen and   Trader Joe's Simply Indian.

Complete Childrens cookbook

Grease spoon with oil before measuring maple syrup or honey What are the skills that cooking needs? First off, there are different styles of cooking. Lets take the example of baking. If you are going to make a layered cake, how will you ensure that you have split the batter equally into two pans. I never faced this problem, as I never made layered cakes this way. But author Jessica Fechtor in her book Stir offers cute ways of doing so. First, stick toothpicks into the pans after pouring the batter, and then make sure that both are in upto the same level. Another is use a ladle and measure the batter by ladles to ensure that both pans have same amount of batter. So see, cooking will put many challenges in your child's way which they can solve in any ingenious way up to them. Complete Children's Book starts with many easy kid friendly recipes like Granola and Granola Bars. It has 'Four ways with..' section after the recipes which will enforce to kids that they dont ...

Yorkshire Teatime Recipes

Time traveling from your kitchen In 47 pages of Yorkshire Teatime recipes by Amanda Persey, you get 34 recipes and many of them are very new to me. Batley Cake, Cable Cake, Curd Tarts, Harrier Cake, Ilkley Cake, Leeds Parkin and so on. Then there is the set of recipes that begin with York and Yorkshire - Biscuits, Buns, Cheesecakes...  Some recipes come  with very distinct notes like how Parkin always has oatmeal in it. Batley Cake is made on a baking sheet and not in a tin. Thats the first one I am going to take a stab at. And the black and white pictures interspersed between the recipes retain the feel of Yorkshire in visual sense too.
