Cabbage Comeliness

I dont know how or why, I thought I should use mandoline for cabbage and now I am not going to remember that I used to struggle cutting it otherwise. Mandoline makes cutting so effortless and the outcome is so sightly. It takes very little time to cook because of its even and small size of the cut vegetables. I used it for onions and tomatoes for chicken gravy which looks so consistent now. Are my days of uneven curry gravy behind me?

Spiral Slicer and Mandolini

Things that go together. Today this is what my daughter learnt at preschool. I tried to coax what she learnt at preschool. I said 'Shoes and Socks' and then she chimed in 'Milk and Cookies'. I bought the OXO Good Grips Handheld Mandline Slicer a long time ago but never used it. When I got the Spiralschneider Spirelli Spiral Slicer (had my eyes on it, since I first saw it at Ross), it was not all rosy or actually it was with all the carrot still stuck in the blade. It is easier with the cucumber. But towards the end you are in a fight you dont know if its with the spiral slicer or the cucumber. despite all that, I like the churned out cucumber which is strips. I read that someone used it with a potato. So you know whats coming up next. Once the cucumber piled up into the plate into the bottom cone (of damru shape, street hawker's wooden base in India), I thought why not put sliced tomatoes around. And thats how the mandoline slicer found its calling. What I lik...
