Palak pindi kura

My grandmother made a very thick/dry version of  Pindi Kura . My mom too would make this, if she had to cook something in a hurry. Today I wilted some spinach and thought will jazz it up with some eggs. Something about the water bubbling in it, made me put besan into it. There wasnt too much, just enough to soak up that extra water. It turned out to be a good curry.

Cookies and Crack

My friend made these amazing looking and well packed  Saltine Toffee  and  Orange sugar tea cookies

Falafel Mix

There's some pita in the fridge falafel mix in the kitch lettuce and tomato on the box time to pull the mandoline slicer out.. ou,, ou some tahini on the side is all we need Sing it to  There's a stranger in my bed  tune.

Pravin Thecha pickle

It tastes like Chintakaya karam, but is mirchi pickle. The right spice kick.

Lant Chips

Lant chips . The history behind the packet, about introduction of potatoes to Ikea Land is quite interesting too. The chips cut in the coarse style have  a different flavour. It is crispy without being soft like the Classic. The texture brings me to  Cornflakes chivda . I didnt deep fry like in the recipe. I pan fried. That left the cornflakes with a crispy, undone texture. With the Lant Chips, there's a bot of the undoneness and a bit of the potato taste itself. So a Lant Chip is part texture and part potato. 2.17.15 Today is Shivratri. My husband is fasting. Looking for something easy, I made maggi but it had some water. I quickly thought of soaking that up with corn poha. Perfect. corn poha gets cooked, since the water is still hot. Add some  Santa Fe trail mix  for some crunch and spice. And about chips, today my daughter had one of those oven baked Lays Chips and asked me what it was. Usually, she likes cheetos in that set. She asked me what chips they were.

Methi Pulao and Cabbage Kofta

Methi pulao   With two more bunches of fenugreek leaves left, I found the Methi Pulao recipe on the internet. After wilting, the whole bunch reduced to nothing. I didnt get to taste the leaves much. But my husband and guests said that they could taste it.                                                                          Cabbage kofta I remember kofta making being terrible, especially if it involves cooked veggies. In the fridge, was everyday vegetables and I had to make something special for Christmas Pot luck. Cabage Kofta it is. I put way too much yogurt in it. For that reason, I didnt have to add water. I added enough besan to bind the koftas, shallow fried them. For once, I made a thick gravy. My bete noir.

Godiva Chocolatier Gold Star Ornament

A knock on the door. Neighbors gave a gold star ornament full of Godiva chocolates. I went for the dark chocolate truffles. It smells good and tastes good. Hard shell with soft filling inside.

Chocolates of the World

Somebody in the office, put these morsels up for grab on a common table. I tried Dark Chocolate Ganache and liked it. I tried the Pistachio too, as it was my first Pistachio chocolate, but it has a faint amaretto taste.

Have it by itself or in bhelpuri or mixture

In India, fresh coconuts are offered to God and then thick flakes of the coconut mixed with some sugar and lentils are distributed as prasadam for worshippers. The fresh coconut tasted very good but as kids, we were prohibited from having too much of it as it would cause stomach ache or cough. Fried coconut slices are used in savoury mixture. These C2O Baked Coconut chips pack that freshness and sweetness without the fear for digestion. As you concentrate on the thin flakes, its almost like a sweet version of Ribbon Murukku (an Indian Savoury). Even though, there is salt, the crunch brings out the sweetness more. These will go well topped on a chocolate cake, both colour wise and flavour. They can be used in bhelpuri, savoury mixture(mix of spicy ingredients).

Souffle cakes

Individual chocolate souffle cakes I had to make the desert enough for 4. I doubled all the quantities. I missed the warning in the header about not doubling the flour or else.. I found out, it got heavy and the souffle fell flat. My daughter called it brownie.

Tulsi Green tea

I couldnt taste Tulsi but green tea itself tastes good.

Chocolate brownie cupcakes

This happened to be the rare time, where I couldnt log into computer and had to dig a recipe soon.  I had to put the cupcakes in the oven 15 min over the required baking time. On the top was a filmy layer. The only thing that was different from the recipe - 1 tbsp less butter. I asked my daughter how the cupcake is, as thats what the recipe refers to them as. She said "Muffin, not cupcake". goodness gracious, I must have been sleeping while adding the sugar. I have never seen so much sugar added, almost double the flour. All that just to compensate for the walnuts?

Vankaya menthi kura

My mom used to love brinjal and menthi kura for the chance it gave her to use pachi karam (green chilis). I made it the first time. some more salt and it would have been perfect. The brinjals didnt take too long to cut especially cut into half latitudinally, over the vertical cuts. Two more bunches of fenugreek to go Aloo methi Methi pulao

Asparagus Stir fry Fried Brown Rice

After learning about Asparagus Stir Fry frozen veggies, my husband bought some packets. With two egg whites from lava cake recipe, left over brown rice (about 1 and half cup cooked brown rice), two eggs thrown in and this asparagus Stir fry, fried rice is a good way of softening the cold brown rice.

Chocolate Volcano erupts again

12.1.14 My husband complains that I dont repeat recipes, but this  chocolate lava cake  is different. Now I want to make it till I have fed everyone I know. But this recipe by the pioneer woman has been tried twice, once right and another time almost.  I like this version much better than the pioneer womans. Without flour, and more chocolate, it gets straight to the business of getting you to heaven. This also happens to be the time of my first oven burn. God knows what I was thinking, but I was handling a tray of six ramekins single-handedly. Return to reality, many a slip between the oven and the counter and a burn to the fingers. The net scared me about the intensity of what might be goinf on inside the skin exposed to high temperatures. Honey and Alo vera were my go to. You know whats the best cure for any accident. A realisation of your stupidity that seems to give you immense pain control. One more exception to repeat following recipes has been with  Biryani . I used to cook
