In India, fresh coconuts are offered to God and then thick flakes of the coconut mixed with some sugar and lentils are distributed as prasadam for worshippers. The fresh coconut tasted very good but as kids, we were prohibited from having too much of it as it would cause stomach ache or cough. Fried coconut slices are used in savoury mixture.
