Five Star Gourmet Foods

Five Star Gourmet Foods I tried the Santa Fe salad and the Tuscan Salad. Liked them both. It almost seems like a ceremony, adding those different accessories to the salad. The artichokes in the Tuscan salad, so done compared to the rough exterior of the uncooked ones. Santa Fe with its tortilla strips is a winner. The chicken would be better off if somehow that marinade could seep in.

Chicken salad with Wonton Strips

Okami Chinese style salad kit While eating the Wonton strips, the big realisation is that wonton crisps are like Namkeen or Nimki .The salad tastes good with all the additions, but I might have overdone the addition, towards the end, felt too heavy. And the knowledge about the calorie intake didnt go well.

Tossing the ingredients

When I saw the recipe for  Tabbouleh salad , I could not believe that the bulgur had to just sit in boiling water for an hour. I had to check for myself that it works and it couldnt wait. So thats what I did. and am I happy for the freedom from boiling the bulgur for too long and ending up with soggy mass at the end. I never thought I would make  Tabbouleh  at home. I took some shortcuts like dried parsley, mint paste instead of fresh mint. I used only 3 tbsps of lime juice.Until now, Tabbouleh was mainly parsley for me up until the minute I saw that it has bulgur. Our memory how it works, when it has to remember somethin we dont like it makes the whole dish of that disliked thing. Other recipes that are interesting in the book :  Spinach with vinaigrette ,  salmon sandwiches  (greek yogurt spread),  green bean casserole . In desserts Brown sugar souffles with creme Anglaise  and   roasted banana pudding  are ambitious...

potatoes

I usually make broccoli with peanuts and frozen mixed veggie - beans, carrot, corn. Today my husband requested for potatoes with broccoli. I put a few purple skin potatoes for a boil in a pressure cooker. After 3 whistles they lost their color. Since I had the potatoes I wanted to make part of the taco that Adam had at Juan in a million . It calls for a boiled potato, pepper, eggs, salt on a griddle. I didnt add enough salt. I had some green chutney in the fridge. Some toasted walnuts  and grated carrots from the morning glory muffins, pomegranate seeds. In they went with the boiled potatoes to make this salad. The time taken to process the tart of the pomegranate seeds, followed by the walnuts crunch, adds spurts of taste leaps in between the mellow potato bites which kind of clears your palate for the next bumpy ride.
