Dinner

Its one of those days where I have a huge list of things to make. Paneer Hariyali Paneer biryani potato in coconut masala (Hirva batata) plantain gravy  (Kele Ambat) mixed vegetables in cashew sauce beetroot yogurt gravy beetroot tambli Flan de Narnja - Julia Child In the little time that I too my eyes off Gourmet , the whole food world sat up and started taking a look at why food blog?   After having decided the menu, with pleas from attending friends to not exhaust myself in the food making, I decided to not make Hirva batata as it turned out to be the same as plantain gravy with coconut which I was not happy with while making itself as it wasnt taking the texture I imagined it would be. This is one of the big reasons why I food blog. To find out if the final product is the same as the recipe makes it sound or look as its going to be. By then I had made Paneer Hariyali and Mixed vegetables in cashew sauce. Both turned out nice, so I wasnt in any imminent trouble of starving

Variety is a trap of life

Its is true at buffets. It is true with goodies from a foreign country. My colleague brought goodies from Taiwan. I had a (thumbs up) seaweed cookie and six peanut butter candy of 5 kinds. are you asking how different can peanut butter be? There was one which was a blob of peanut butter with a ring of caramel around it, another with white sesame seeds in it, another with black sesame seeds in clusters, another in a cuboid shape with an almost impossible flaky concoction like Sohan papdi . Each form of peanut butter had a different taste making their case only stronger.

Edible words

Food lovers companion Aemono . I canot imagine how pureed tofu will taste. Alginic acid  from seaweeds. Recently I had seaweed square cookies. It was a tiny cracker which emanated seaweed flavors only after bits of cracker melted in the mouth. You could feel the symphony in the mouth. Sweet that tips the day

Today I had lunch at Chompies. Last time when I had bruch at a different location, it was 'bagel with lox' after a hike. They took too long to bring the food on the table. The Matzo ball soup . What some one ate 78 in 8 min. We were talking about   professional food eaters and how they do it. I didnt know that it was vegetarian. I could go for a pecan test. The  Knish was good.  black and white cookies  with its cake feel. We didnt have space for Babka . My own choice of Cajun Ecstasy of Chicken sandwich of Bialy  instead of brioche was too low on spices. I have ODed on cake with chocolate chip quick bread for dinner. Whos heard of normal days with such offences? Recently I was looking at a kids homework book. the section with different kinds of seeds has the labels but the grains are missing. Living in a hostel, is one way to find heaven in a grain.

Pecans

After seeing Pecan from soup to nuts , I bought pecans. with almost each recipe starting with 2 sticks of butter, I wasnt motivated to use any of the recipes and ended up just toasting them for the hike. I got to taste chocolate carrot cake . Is there an end to combinations? It was in a silicone baking dish. Its hard to imagine that it withstands high temperatures. wiki says its USP is its flexibility when it comes to release the cake. Well do they come in bundt or angel form? I will appreciate that.

Oatmeal

with clover honey. Awesome breakfast. First you get do the artwork with the squeeze bottle. And then the hot milk and oats melt the scriptwriting. It tasted like a dessert. The sourdough starter which got into action Monday night is all set to go into the refrigerator as soon as I figure what a quart is.
