In-house Barista

If you have ever wondered what the barista is doing behind his machine station, you will get an idea of it with this KitchenAid Nespresso machine. You will also appreciate the steps involved and the time it takes to make your satisfying drink.
There are start and Instruction manuals on the operation of the machine. When you are looking at the step which shows how to insert the capsule into the the machine, note that it is the top view of the machine and not the front. The setup is fairly easy. For the first time you fill the water and run it out 3 times and then insert the capsule. Then you have your chosen size Ristretto, Lungo.. flowing into your cup.
Do look at some videos on the net to find what drink you like and how to make it. Latte Macchiato, Cappucino, Genuine Macchiato. This is where the Aeroccino frother comes into picture. You can froth the milk in heat or cold settings. It is indicated by red or blue LED respectively. Also look online for care instructions of the frother, as it cant be used in dishwasher or submerged in water. If you are into the histrionics of froth hearts, florets then you can practice that too. After having this much info, you can schedule your steps of getting the froth ready and then putting a cup of that under the machine directly for amazing drinks. (For the frother there are two max settings. I thought it meant for one or two units. But when I put the milk in hot mode at 2x level, it overflew. I am wondering if for hot it should be at 1x level. The Aeroccino manual 'didnt use its words'). If you want a big drink the small cup holder folds into the machine to make way. The used up capsules land in a compartment which is easily accessed by pulling from the front.
The machine is heavy for a petite person to move it around for filling water. In that case its easier to face it sideways.
We tried the Indriya coffee yesterday evening. At home we are tea drinkers. So Imagine my surprise this morning, when I asked Tea and my husband said he thought I would say coffee. For it, all we had to do was insert the capsule and the coffee was ready while the frother on auto made the milk hot. I am curious to try pouring some decoction and see how is the tea when mixed with the hot frothed milk. This morning we made Cosi. The coffees have a flavour such that you can have them without sweetening them too much and still not feeling too bitter for Indian palate used to lots of milk and less coffee.
Nespresso abilities are compared with that of Keuring Rivo if you want some comparision.
If you want a system that grinds fresh coffee beans, then its Jenn-air built-in Coffee System for you.

Healthy protein cabbage After the onion gravy success, I was excited to find out who is next in the boxring. A cabbage. I have  afound a way to make my family love it - a lentil eg urad or moong (fried initially, adds crunch - learned from a friend's sister visiting then) in copious amounts and mandolin sliced cabbage I wanted to see if there was a different way to make it. I saw this split chickpea addition to it and wondered why I didnt think of it before. I know of a recipe with soaked split chickpea and onion curry (diced onions, but now I am thinking another recipe would be to give the special treatment to onions with a blend and then fried well - elevates any main ingredient even simple one like soaked split chickpea. oh no, now reimaging all the great food could have been if done well - thinking chole curry -- its like once you know a mistake and have tons and tons of papers, to go back and correct). In some months, when for religious reasons, people dont eat onion, t...
