Mothers Day cake

Beattys chocolate cake is very porous and reminds me of the first cake I had in US at ASU's welcome party. Laura has identified that reducing the leavening does not let the cake sink. I keep promising myself that I wont make a cake that calls for boiled water or coffee but end up making it in a rush to make a deadline cake.
I was very taken by Bienmesabe cake. Bienmesabe is very similar to  Badam ki jaali
which is made from almonds.

Banana pudding

I went over the roasted banana pudding recipe from yesterday and found it too consuming (shopping time, dishes, baking time), I finally decided on  caramelized banana pudding . And meringue making is merry. Flour is used in making the custard.  all purpose flour plays the corn starch  role of thickening the custard. I used  Parle G  instead of vanilla wafers.

Streit's Potato Pancake Mix

In went some Indian spices - Cumin, Dhanajiru powder, pepper and salt. Had it with green mirchi chutney and dahi. Tasted like vada. Vegeterian Kishke  can be made with carrots and celery added to the potato pancake mix.
