Week in a Day



In the Christmas Episode, Rachel mentioned this Week in a Day book.

In Portuguese Fish supper, Rachel calls for Rachael Ray Seafood Seasoning.
Come to think of it, back home when mom made fish, she would ask dad to get fish masala and dad would get it from a store. The grocer would pack a bunch of spices in a paper. I can recall coriander seeds and putnalapappu in it.

Banana pudding

I went over the roasted banana pudding recipe from yesterday and found it too consuming (shopping time, dishes, baking time), I finally decided on  caramelized banana pudding . And meringue making is merry. Flour is used in making the custard.  all purpose flour plays the corn starch  role of thickening the custard. I used  Parle G  instead of vanilla wafers.

Streit's Potato Pancake Mix

In went some Indian spices - Cumin, Dhanajiru powder, pepper and salt. Had it with green mirchi chutney and dahi. Tasted like vada. Vegeterian Kishke  can be made with carrots and celery added to the potato pancake mix.
