Fruit by the Foot



I saw one of the individual packets not for sale, in the common area. I had never seen r had it before. I asked a colleague if he had it. He said its good, he likes it but its very sweet. I was very pleassantly surprised to open it and find a parchment paper kind of roll with thin fruit strip stuck onto it. Yes its sweet, thats the dominant taste with some fruit tang.
Reminded me of fruit leather like Naturo Mango bar or Mango papad. Why dont we have preservatives other than sugar or salt that are good for health?

Banana pudding

I went over the roasted banana pudding recipe from yesterday and found it too consuming (shopping time, dishes, baking time), I finally decided on  caramelized banana pudding . And meringue making is merry. Flour is used in making the custard.  all purpose flour plays the corn starch  role of thickening the custard. I used  Parle G  instead of vanilla wafers.

Streit's Potato Pancake Mix

In went some Indian spices - Cumin, Dhanajiru powder, pepper and salt. Had it with green mirchi chutney and dahi. Tasted like vada. Vegeterian Kishke  can be made with carrots and celery added to the potato pancake mix.
