Today, I will make tomato pappu. My dad made this a lot when we were kids and my mom was away on election duty. My mom hates tomatoes and dad cant have curry without tomato. I tried the way of cooking the dal along with tomato, it didnt quite get there, so I want to try this recipe where tomatoes are added after the boil.
Plan changed to Sambhar. We had to make another dish watery like rasam, instead we upgraded with the boiled daal we had. My friend made this with shallots an drumsticks.
Looking at the potatoes, beans, carrots, peas, I feel like making a curry with them,
but this aloo matar is working its charms even with fewer vegetables.
Day before I tried beerakaya pappu . The step about boiling tamarind with dal didnt go well with me, resultant dal didnt get cooked as well. Anyways, I found this gutti beerakaaya kura recipe, which should be fun to make.
After making this, it turned out sweet and I wondered what did this. Its frying the onions, a different flavor. I used the leftover paste with cooked tomatoes, chilli powder and salt for a easy base for boiled egg curry.
I got a trifle bowl set as a gift from todays guests. In their gifts honor, its Raspberry Peach Trifle time.
I havent had/made angel cake before. Its been a funny time looking for things in the store. I asked the lady at the baking counter if they had Angel cake and she pointed to something right in front of me, which seemed to have been covered in coconut. It was so different from the flour colour of other stores. While looking for the whipping cream, I needed assistance, cant help it if it was stacked on the top rack to the corner were the black border of the refrigerator door hides it.
We had raita with grated cucumber in it and guests brough a huge serving with bisi bele bath made from poha. Didnt know of this twist with poha.
Yesterday I had the Midas touch and all I cooked turned out tasty - goduma rava upma, bottle gourd curry and the drumsticks.
For another time, I want to make beerakaya nuvvu kura and beerakaya gasagasalu.
