Chole cwith cashew

chole curry  with cashew, poppy seeds, tomato and onions. What I learned with this gravy is to not add all the boiled chole and just maintain the ratio such that there is more gravy. It looked exactly like the video. I am getting the hang of gravies.  I made aloo curry with sesame seed paste.

Banana rolls

You might have noticed the big hiatus in my baking like the end of this probably Ted Hughes poem where a room full of toys strewn here and there is about a deserted place. Recently we had a spate of bananas. Didnt want to make banana bread and made somethign referred to as kela rabri without realising it. Made it with boiled milk, condended milk, ripe bananas and bonus coconut. Still there were more ripe bananas to use. Having found this  banana roll  recipe and confirming that we have yeast. I jumped into the preparation and was happy with the yeast doing its job. Later as we revise notes, I was going through the recipe and forgot that milk and butter went into it. Still it turned out great. I am happy to have broken the quiet spell of baking.

When food opens your heart

I have made lava cakes in ramekins many times before but this time we have many guests that I want to regale with this  muffin tin chocolate lava cakes . I had  paneer lababdar  in a flight. I found the name fascinating. I will get to try it out this time. I should try this  ginger tea  with mixing the tea often.

Thanksgiving dinner

Garlic butter Chicken tenders  is what I made this time. Usually I make the green bean casserole and my daughter makes cranberry relish but she took up pumpkin pie this time. We had a bountiful pomegranate season.

Simply Korean: Easy Recipes for Korean Favorites That Anyone Can Make

Simply Korean: Easy Recipes for Korean Favorites That Anyone Can Make by Aaron Huh We love watching  Maangchi videos. We have had Kimchi and Kimchi pancakes from Costco. Having enjoyed cole slaw, I will try making instant kimchi at home for all its fermented and probiotic goodness. All those neatly cut arrangements in bibimbap are definitely inspiring to make. True to the preface of the book, all the recipes have fewer ingredients and simple steps. One of the balls of rice looked so aesthetic. All the pictures are inviting to try out the recipe. I dont think I have seen a simpler book for someone who is new to Korean cooking and wants to try something easy. If you are wondering about the dish on the cover of the book, its rice cakes and there's royal version of it too. I guess we now have to watch  Aaron's  videos
